A meeting with vincenzo palazzo. this designer from the puglia region in italy has always dreamt of beautiful clothes and offers, through his label vien, a distinct fashion, mixing elegance from the 50’s and streetwear from the 90’s, all in luxurious materials. interview with vincenzo palazzo:i dreamt about women from the past because i love women from the beginning of the last century, but i grew up in the 80’s so i grew up with streetwear from england and all this stuff so of course this is me, this is my creation, so i tried to make all this stuff mixed together and i think it’s the dna of the brand.for me everything starts from the fabrics. i remember yohji yamamoto once said that it’s the fabrics that says what i have to become. i think that beauty is in the details and the quality of the fabric, the choice of fabric and that all really makes a difference on the same item. as i was saying it’s a crossing, like in the music. mixing, trying to find a perfect match between different fabrics is something that i really love, mixing everything. especially in this dress, i think i got inspired from my land because this is really soft italy stuff mixed with something more japan because there isn’t a unique line in my creation process, it’s really punk; it’s like a punk approach.
