Kenzo - Menswear Show Autumn/Winter 2015/16 in Paris with interview

access_time 00:02:27

Each season, the kenzo show is worth a trip, firstly for the choice of location and atmosphere that comes out of it. today, the meeting for the masculine collection was in a completely new building in the philharmonie of paris that just opened their doors. inside, the pouffes and coloured benches were aligned in long glass bays to show off the boys…and for next winter, it’s all about protection, comfort and functionality. the huge, enveloping parkers are made in waterproof nylon. the knitwear was treated in a multitude of ways – tie dyed, mixed, and in patchwork – and is found especially on jackets and jumpers that take the codes of kenzo with printed collages and messages of tolerance and love. carol lim and humberto leon, as artistic directors, put community spirit forward as the focus. a great success once again, wearing kenzo is easily recognisable through the very visual and urban pieces, which give off a “cool attitude”. to note: the colourful utility boots and knitted hand warmers.interview: humberto leon: when we were designing the collection we were looking for spaces that could really almost be like a new beginning for not only the collection, but for the people coming here, so the space was so perfect, we were so excited for the architecture, obviously a lot of people are excited, so it’s super exciting to share this experience with all our guests and just being able to have this intimate moment here.carol lim: it’s important for us, it’s part of the experience i think to be able to be the first to be able to show here – is truly an incredible experience, so we were super excited.humberto leon: a lot of it i think was about function, and i think the kenzo brand has always been about these tribes, and we think about what a modern tribe means to us, it’s almost like a self sustaining community. like a band that can really group together, to really make a difference and to really be able to function and we wanted to celebrate this idea of individuality, within the collection, so i think each boy had their own personality, you know it almost felt like everyone put their clothing together in the way that they feel they want to represent themselves.even all the walls are all treated and you know we live in a world today where you never know it might rain today, it might not, and really that idea of being prepared was really nice.music from the show
