Each season damir doma brings us mulitiple references that his collection revolves around. we found charlotte perriand, eileen grey, and helmut newton, with photos of the beach and skyscrapers…all explained in a book distributed on each of the seats. waves could be seen worked onto the clothes, ribbons were looped around metallic discs, and an urban aspect could be found with the roping, the drawstring and the striped effects. the silhouette is fluid, all with an emotion transmitted by the designer to each piece of clothing. interview: damir doma: i think that my main job as a creative director and as a designer, and building my own house/my own brand, is to really create my own woman, and to define her, i think it’s all about definition, and i think it’s about sensitivity you know? for example this season the image of charlotte perriand on the beach…was a beautiful inspiration because it’s not in august it’s probably somewhere in april or may, or maybe it’s in october or september. she’s dressed, she’s strong, she’s independent, but at the same time we know she’s very creative and sensual and very sensitive, and this is the type of woman we try to recreate.at the end of the day, this is what essence of my work and my brand is, this mix of man and woman, and to dress also women in men’s clothing sometimes, but then to break it up with very drapey dresses, and trousers. but with me i think it goes vice versa, i design for men and women, and sometimes things from the menswear comes to the women and sometimes the other way round can happen, i think that’s one of the dna points of my brand. music from the show.
