Autumn/Winter 2014/15 Trend – Knitwear Steals the Show

access_time 00:02:25

Winter is coming, and in order to wrap up warm without immediately having to choose an overcoat, wool will undoubtedly be the best option. good news: thick wool and big sweaters are making a reappearance on the podiums. from cardigans we pass straight onto wool dresses. worn quite short and loose, these appear feminine and become delicate with play on collars, meticulous weaving and even added embroidery. in short, knitwear is in. but as designers never have the last word, they dare to go further by offering an entire look of wool. comfort is of course emphasized, but so are quality and artisan techniques. we have henceforth seen wool worn over all pieces, from overcoats to dresses, scarves to trouser suits, and cardigans to hats. there is no end to the extolling of knitwears merits. and wool is taken even further by choosing to work it differently, through texture or quite simply by adding an arty essence. interview: stella mccartney:i wear a lot of knitwear, it’s a big part of my everyday life you know, and i think what we wanted to do with the collection was be honest about that and also bring it in a new way, so to just sort of layer it on each other and have this idea that you were really being taken care of by the knitwear that you were wearing. danielle sherman:a lot of them are like tunics, they’re like long tunics, they’re longer tunics, so on myself it would be a dress but on other taller people it can be like an oversized tunic, also then worn over trousers or a skirt. we have like texture weaving actually, which was really inspired by malagasy weaving which is native to madagascar. so a lot of the scarves that you saw were all hand woven, as well as some other pieces that are in the collection. joseph altuzarra :il y a quand même un jeu des matières et ça crée avec la lumière un jeu, je pense intéressant, de couleur. there is a play on the materials and with the light that creates an interesting, i think, play on colour. antonio marras :in his knitwear that we worked on, all of the pieces are handmade. they are urban clothes but they are sophisticated at the same time, and very wearable too because they are very clean figures… music free of copyright/ bandit & nikit - 2012
