Louis Vuitton - Women's Fall/Winter 2014/15 Collection in Paris (with itw)

It takes place in the same location - a tent erected in the square court of the louvre - with the same teams, yet everything is different. a white envelope on every chair, containing a letter bearing the words: “it is a new day. a big day” signed by artistic director nicolas ghesquière, that marks the importance of the event: the unveiling of his first collection for louis vuitton. the tent opens its metallic shutters, letting in beautiful parisian sunlight. first on the runway, freja emerges wearing a black leather coat, a white dress and patent kitten-heel boots. a 1960s/70s look seems to have also come to vuitton. short, flared skirts with a large pocket or zipped up the centre, devised in brown leathers and pale suede. for those who prefer trousers – try high-waisted leggings in patent leather. the waist is cinched and tightened with a belt. shoulders are emphasized, more voluminous and sloping. knitwear makes an impact on skirts and dresses energized with snakeskin effects. bags take on a new dimension, in the form of a bowler, a mini shoulder bag or a clutch and made in the trademark leather. materials, from crocodile to leathers, hides and suedes are worked with expertise and softness. nicolas ghesquière brings a strong personality to this modern, urban wardrobe. charlotte gainsbourg, catherine deneuve, jean-paul gaultier, christian louboutin and stella tennant all attended the show that they simply could not miss!interview:jean-paul gaultier:it is the start of a new chapter for vuitton and it’s wonderful. i think he addresses the codes of the vuitton house, how fashion should be and exist so he really establishes these codes and i think the beautiful colours, the research into materials, the use of materials and the lines are all excellent.we already knew he had potential and so how he will adapted his talents for vuitton, clearly it isn’t the same thing balenciaga but he has done brilliantly and he has defined the codes very well. christian louboutin:when a designer moves to a different house, he needs to find his feet and so at first there is often a slightly more complicated season that isn’t quite ready, which is normal. but from the beginning, he has produced the perfect show. the combination of nicolas’s work and his identity, the mixture and marrying of this with vuitton works perfectly.stella tenant:nicolas has brought his vision into it and you can see the tightness of the silhouettes, the way that he does those bigger shoulders with the very small waist, the volumes, the skirt, that a-line skirt, so there is stiffness in the fabrics, a minimalism in the shapes. it is very pure and yet these rich materials and rich colours, it is beautiful.music from the fashion show
