And the trouser suit is ultra present for autumn/winter, taking a more modern dimension, heading towards an urban allure, even rock n roll, with slim trousers and a tight jacket, putting once again emphasis in the effects of materials, of rounded contours. the exertion of style allows designers to evaluate their talent, as behind the tailoring, we find work on the cut and research into the perfecting the fall.
a suit quickly becomes chic when it is worn by an elegant woman. designers also like to play with the androgynous form, taking masculine codes like tennis stripes or the double-breasted jacket and scatter them to create even more uncertainty between the boundaries of man and woman.
antonio berardi :
i love tailoring, it’s the most important thing to me, it’s kind of like, you know, we can work with flou and that’s one thing, but to do something which is beautiful and has a shape and a form, is my passion.
i love tailoring, actually my most favourite time is when i can sit in the atelier and work on clothes. you know, just work on drapes and tailoring and shoulders; you know i love that.
dean & dan caten :
it’s seen from the woman’s point of view, maybe she’s stolen a few things from him: his hats, his coat, even some tailoring; his suits, so there are men’s tailored suits on women that give a little bit of an androgynous edge.
