German online fashion retailer Zalando proposed on Wednesday that Jennifer Hyman, the chief executive of U.S. clothing rental firm Rent the Runway, joins its supervisory board, replacing Alexander Samwer.
Zalando confirmed its Q1 results late on Wednesday and also said it “expects to grow its business at double-digit rates [this year] in a fashion market that is expected to show significant negative growth”.
As fashion continues to adapt to the ‘new normal’, Zalando on Thursday said that it will sell “affordable textile masks on the Zalando Fashion Store in all 17 markets” from this week, priced from €1 each.
Zalando had lots of news on Thursday, sharing details of what people are buying during the pandemic (comfort clothing and sportswear), its expected Q1 operating loss and initiatives to support its partners and cut costs.
L’Oreal said it is counting on consumers rushing back to hair salons to help its business recover quickly once European and U.S. Covid-19 lockdowns are lifted, adding that beauty sales were bouncing back in China.
