Mamas & Papas continued to struggle in its latest year as it reported another loss, although there were some bright spots as its online sales continued to accelerate and now make up nearly a third of its total turnover.
Make-up brand Iconic London has been acquired by Blue Gem Capital’s growing beauty division. The three-year-old brand joins an overall style-focused portfolio that includes Liberty London, Jack Wills and Mamas & Papas.
Swedish fashion retailer KappAhl reported its half-year results on Friday and they didn’t make happy reading. Bad weather, heavy discounts and collections that didn’t prove as popular as hoped all dented its figures.
Mothercare may have had a weak Christmas but rival Mamas & Papas fared much better. The retailer said this week that sales rose 2.7% in the six weeks to January 13 and that it saw record sales through its stores.
The British retailer has overhauled its online presence and launched a new-look online website offering a content e-commerce experience where parents and would-be parents are guided through pregnancy and beyond.
