Wunderkind recruits new CEO

Published
Oct 5, 2012

German luxury brand Wunderkind, absent from Paris runways since 2010, just orchestrated its big comeback in Paris for international buyers. Famous founder and artistic director of Wunderkind, Wolfgang Joop, hired Thomas Engelkamp in June 2012 to run the business following a period of turmoil in management and the departure of its two original investors. This is the first CEO to join the company since the change of ownership of the house based in Potsdam, Bavaria, Germany. At Wunderkind, Engelkamp's mission will be to revitalize the brand at the international level and in its domestic market, including the launch of new product categories.

Thomas Engelkamp became head of Wunderkind in June 2012

Thomas Engelkamp worked for over ten years in the Metro Group, most recently as head of purchasing accessories and women's wear. Prior to that, this fashion retail professional worked at Peek & Cloppenburg, a high-profile upscale retail apparel chain in Germany and Austria.
