WeSC appoints Wester new CEO

Tony Wester, currently the managing director for Stockholm-based lifestyle brand Gant, has been named the new CEO for Swedish fashion brand WeSC.

Wester will take up the position on September 1 and replaces WeSC's current CEO, Johan Heijbel, who will remain at WeSC as a member of the company's board.

"We've held off recruiting a new CEO until we had a stronger balance sheet, our new business strategy was in place and we had recruited a mostly new management team. These steps have now been completed and we therefore sought to recruit a new CEO, with solid industry experience from both sales and store openings, to implement our new brand and retail strategy. Tony Wester has that experience and we hope that he can lead WeSC and subsidiary The Shirt Factory to new growth," said WeSC chairman Theodor Dalenson.

"It feels exciting and challenging to get to continue to develop the WeSC brand and customer offer together with everyone at WeSC," Wester said.

Earlier this year, WeSC announced that it is opening four stores in the next 12-18 months. It's targeting openings in the USA and in another London location. The brand is currently present in 25 countries.
