NEW YORK, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Clothing maker Warnaco Group Inc reported a higher quarterly profit on Thursday, helped by higher sales and improved margins.

The company, which owns or licenses brands including Warner's, Speedo and Calvin Klein, said net profit in its fiscal second quarter was $19.4 million, or 41 cents per share, compared with $13.8 million, or 30 cents per share, a year earlier.
