Walpole announces 2016 Brands of Tomorrow

Published
Jan 19, 2016

Walpole, the British luxury alliance of over 160 brands that aims to promote and protect British luxury, has revealed the 12 labels it has chosen as its "Brands of Tomorrow."

The winners are: Contemporary womenswear label The Fold, global urban cycling brand Blaze, luxury handbag brand Milli Millu, multi-award winning spirit Half Hitch Gin, designer Richard Brendon, skincare brand Aurora Probiotic Skincare, sunglasses and eywear brand Cubitts, activewear label Monreal London, luxury bath products company Noble Isle, natural fibre bedding brand Penrose Products, architectural interior designers Solomon & Wu, and lighting and furniture designer Tom Raffield.

The wide range of practices - everything from bath products to womenswear and furniture - underlines the broad reach of the UK luxury industry. According to Walpole, it's currently worth over £25 billion to the UK economy.

The Brands of Tomorrow will now receive mentorships from British luxury brands, including Thomas Pink, Harrods, Bremont, The Savoy, Rolls Royce and Alexander McQueen, over the coming year.

Jonathan Heilbron, Chairman of Walpole Brands of Tomorrow, commented: ‘The Brands of Tomorrow Class of 2016 is one of the most exciting we have seen, who are eager to get to work alongside some of the luxury industry’s very best brains. In such a highly competitive global marketplace, these brands, designers and craftspeople are leading the way for the future of luxury.’

The UK luxury industry sector is expected to be worth £51.5bn to the UK economy by 2019, said Walpole CEO Michelle Emmerson.
