True Religion CEO retires

Published
Mar 25, 2013

In what is a first step of a gradual retirement to be completed in two years, True Religion announced that its founder and CEO Jeffrey Lubell “has decided to step down as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Creative Director and employee of the Company.” The announcement managed to rekindle speculation about a takeover of the brand.

And so the page turns for the American denim brand founded in 2002 by Jeffrey Lubell. “I am very proud of all that the company achieved during this decade,” he said in a press release from True Religion. “Now is the right time to facilitate the next phase of the company's development and growth, and for me to seek new creative endeavors.”

Jeffrey Lubell will stay on as “Chairman Emeritus” of True Religion and creative consultant to the company for another two years. His position as CEO will be handled in the interim by the brand’s president, Lynne Koplin, who joined the company in January 2010 as chief operating officer and was promoted to president in August 2011. She was previously president of the women's division of American brand Tommy Bahama, a subsidiary of Oxford Industries.
