Tommy Hilfiger opens a flagship store in Los Angeles

In 2009, Tommy Hilfiger made a place for itself in New York with its first American flagship located on Fifth Avenue. Since then, the American brand staked out territory in Europe and Asia, with openings in Paris, London and Tokyo. But it was still missing a flagship on the American West Coast to set the tone for its upmarket ambitions.

Check that one off the list. Last week the brand opened its new 600-square-meter store in Los Angeles at 157 Robertson Boulevard in the shopping district of West Hollywood.

“The city is an iconic U.S. destination and the new West Coast flagship celebrates the brand’s long history of involvement and collaboration in art and entertainment,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “Robertson Boulevard is the perfect home for all our collections.”

The brand is using the store to showcase both its runway collections and its entire sportswear line. And to mark the occasion, Tommy Hilfiger created a capsule collection of four tuxedos.

The space was designed by executive vice president Trent Wisehart and architects O'Neill Langan. It will also host a temporary VIP closet featuring pieces worn by Marilyn Monroe, Tina Turner and Michael Jackson.
