Tod's appoints Andrea Incontri to lead men’s ready-to-wear

Tod's is reorganizing its design team. Following last year’s appointment of Alessandra Facchinetti as creative director of womenswear, the Italian shoe brand has now named Andrea Incontri head of menswear.

The new creative director "will bring a fresh perspective to the ready-to-wear line,” said the house, which presented Incontri’s very first collection on Sunday, June 22 at a fashion event as part of Milan’s Fashion Week Men Milanese.

"Andrea’s arrival in our design team enriches the men’s wear collections, giving our customers an even wider offering, especially for the ready-to-wear," said Tod’s chairman and CEO Diego Della Valle, who has worked to strengthen its apparel segment over the past year.

Having come to fame in June 2010 when he won the accessories category during the emerging talent competition "Who's on Next Man", the architecture graduate started out in design, before turning to fashion, his passion, and specializing in leatherwear.

After a few years as artistic director of the Italian leather company Consortium (Consorzio Italiano Centopercento), he has gone on to collaborate with various brands including Fratelli Rossetti, Alcantara, Jil Sander Navy and "Aiguille Noire”, Peuterey’s creative line, before launching his own brand in 2009: a unisex collection of accessories and leatherwear, which has expanded over the seasons to include a complete wardrobe for men and women, and has shown as part of the Milanese calendar since 2012.

"My architectural studies has always had a big influence on my work, from studying form to the construction of volumes. With my clothes, there’s a very marked sense of experimentation and celebration of materials. I’m very connected to the world of art and Italian manual craftsmanship," said Andrea Incontri to FashionMag.com last year.
