Theory: Olivier Theyskens exits

Published
Jun 18, 2014

Olivier Theyskens is once again a free agent. The Belgian designer has just announced his departure from the American premium brand Theory, where he has served as artistic director since 2010. Having initially been hired by the Fast Retailing-owned brand for a special collection called "Theysken's Theory", he quickly saw his duties extended to women’s and men’s collections, as well as accessories.

The designer’s conclude his work at Theory will be a pre-spring 2015 collection. According to WWD, Olivier Theyskens and Theory CEO Andrew Rosen are parting on "good terms", Rosen referring to the "end of a life cycle" and hoping that what Theyskens has already accomplished will be carried on by the design teams that have worked with him. A replacement has not yet been mentioned.

Theyskens was previously recognized for his work at Rochas and Nina Ricci, as well as for his own label. His plans for the future have not yet been made known.
