Texworld USA: 4,000 trade professionals gather in New York

Published
Feb 2, 2016

The US editions of Texworld and Apparel Sourcing, held from 24th to 26th January at the Javits Convention Center, New York, attracted more than 4,000 professionals and 310 exhibitors, despite one of the worst snowstorms in city history.

The so-called 'setting-up' day, 23rd January, actually coincided with a full-scale blizzard, during which the white-blanketed streets of Manhattan were impassable, and only the better-equipped, or more daring vehicles could travel. As a result, the organisers pushed back opening time on the first day by one hour, to allow exhibitors to put the finishing touches to their booths. Both visitors and exhibitors however had to contend with the total closure of the New York airspace for one whole day.

In the end, 16 different nations were represented among the booths, with textile and apparel suppliers coming from the USA and, among others, China, Peru, Portugal, the UK, Colombia, Pakistan, Korea, Japan and India. Altogether, 201 textile exhibitors at Texworld, and 109 clothing manufacturers at Apparel Sourcing showcased their range.

Once again the show revolved around the trend area created by Gregory Lamaud and Louis Gerin, which featured a selection of the Spring/Summer 2017 range across 16 different product groups. This year's edition also assigned the first Texworld USA Cutting Edge Awards, going to the most innovative exhibitors in seven categories.

Texworld and Apparel Sourcing will hold their Paris edition from 15th to 18th February at the Le Bourget exhibition centre, and the organiser is at the same time preparing its next Turkish edition, scheduled in Istanbul from 23rd to 25th March.
