The company, which was founded in 2002 and is active in 19 markets, just announced an 18% increase in 2015 full year-revenue, up to €85m. It took nearly 2m orders and shipped more than 3.6m items to 180 countries in 2015. Revenue for the UK and Ireland reached €4.6m in the year, when Spreadshirt also shipped to 24 new countries, including The Holy See, Madagascar and The Cook Islands.

Spreadshirt's average basket size went up in the period, as global orders increased by 7.5% and nearly 11% more items were shipped than in 2014. Over 40% of the site's traffic came from mobile devices.

Spreadshirt CEO, Philip Rooke, who has been with the company since 2009 and previously worked for, among others, Skinstore and Tesco, said of the results: "At Spreadshirt we have a continuous-development approach to our platform. The healthy growth we have achieved in 2015 is a direct result of this investment in ideas and technology."

The CEO also spoke of the damage a potential Brexit could do the UK, stating: "Leaving the EU would be a disaster for UK ecommerce and internet brands who want to compete in a global market. Europe is a huge market on the UK's doorstep and although the British appreciate the trading opportunities, the size of the market doesn't get enough recognition. It gives companies the opportunity to get to scale. This means they can begin to compete with other huge markets; the USA and China."

Spreadshirt has more than 70,000 active partners globally and an average of 5.4m monthly visits.
