Sophia Webster creates new shoe collection with Barbie

Sophia Webster, the UK shoe designer known for her colourful, kooky shoes, has teamed up with Barbie to celebrate the iconic doll wearing flats for the first time.

Her collection, Barbie by Sophia Webster, features six adult styles and three children's shoes. The adult styles consist of 2 sneakers, 1 flat sandal, and 3 heels, including Webster's well-known Chiara-heel with a butterfly. The collection launches at Selfridges on August 27.

Sophia Webster says: "Creating a shoe collection for Barbie has always been my dream project, but getting to be a part of her embracing flats for the first time made it extra exciting, and deeply personal.  I love that this concept strikes a balance between dreams and reality - the idea of getting Barbie in some hi-tops and setting her loose in East London instantly appealed."

The footwear collection, which is part of the Barbie Fashionista campaign, is modeled by Columbian singer and songwriter Kali Uchis.

Webster also designed a limited-edition Barbie for the collection, which wears wears a pair of 'Riko' hi-top glitter sneakers.
