Smiggle to open first store in Swindon

Australian retailer Smiggle has signed a deal to open a 904 sq ft unit at The Parade in Swindon – its first location in the city.

The store is due to open in August 2017, joining other high street brands at the shopping centre including Topshop, H&M, Superdrug, River Island and Schuh.

The 300,000 sq ft shopping mall is located in the heart of Swindon and is owned by Standard Life Investments. It has recently seen a wave of new lettings and upsizes, including the opening of an expanded Greggs store, the pre-let to Metro Bank of a new 5,200 sq ft flagship and re-letting the former BHS unit to Wilko.

“Smiggle is an exciting new international retailer in Swindon that will add significantly to the tenant mix, as well as helping to drive footfall at the centre,” said Will Fulton, Fund Manager at Aberdeen Standard Investments.

Standard Life Investments has agreed over 27,000 sq ft of lettings at the shopping centre in recent months.
