The Japanese beauty brand has paired with contemporary artist Takashi Murakami to create a Holiday 2016 makeup collection that captures the magical side of Christmas. Flower motifs and shimmering shades are at the heart of this festive collection, due out in November.

Shu Uemura has often worked with modern artists to develop unique collections and ranges. This year, the brand has once again picked a partner from the art world for its Holiday 2016 offering, signing up Takashi Murakami, an artist and filmmaker often dubbed the "Japanese Andy Warhol." His work draws heavily on Japanese pop culture and often features multicolored flowers, one of his signature emblems.

It's therefore no surprise to see these two inspirations reflected in the "Shu Murakami" Holiday collection, which brims over with magical Christmas sparkle. The collection oozes joie de vivre, harking back to the enchanted Christmases of childhood.

As with each of its collections, Shu Uemura pays particular attention to packaging design. Here, brightly colored flowers come to life as smiling characters, blooming in all kinds of uplifting colors on the packaging of the collection's makeup and cosmetics.

The Holiday 2016 line features some 15 products, each treated to a cute flowery finish. The centerpiece of this seasonal collection is the "Cosmic Blossom Eye & Cheek" palette, available in "Cosmicool," inspired by a starry sky with deep blue eyeshadow shades and a pink blush, or in "Cosmikawaii," with pink and purple eyeshadows and a coral blush ($65).

Other products include "Blossom-Nova Eye Trio" ($32) eyeshadow trio, "Drawing Pencil" eyeliner ($24), five shades of "Rouge Unlimited" lipstick ($30), "Anti-Oxi+" cleansing oil ($77), "Stage Performer Block:Booster" primer, "Blanc:Chroma Blossom in Cushion Foundation Compact Case and Puff," a brush set, an eyelash curler and the brand's cult makeup bag.

The Shu Uemura Holiday 2016 collection is due out in November.
