River Island names new Head of Menswear Buying

Nicholas Tahir has been appointed Head of Menswear Buying at British high street retailer River Island.

Tahir replaces Fiona Firth, who left the company earlier this year. He was most recently the Head of Global Menswear at Tesco's F&F label, where he had worked since 2014. Before that, Tahir was Men's Buying Controller at Primark.

“I am delighted to be joining one of the best fashion retailers on the high street. It’s truly an exciting time to be leading the menswear division, some of the finest talent in the industry,” says Tahir. “I’m very much looking forward to implementing the new global strategy and harnessing the true potential of River Island’s menswear, cementing our position as designer of the high street.”

River Island is currently expanding its menswear category, and Tahir will help drive its menswear strategy, which it originally launched in 2015.
