The store was opened by The Gibraltar Limited Partnership, which was advised by British Land. It features bespoke bronze cladding and a double height shop front, and was designed by architect 3D Reid.

Breege O’Donoghue, Group Director, Business Development, Primark, said: “We are delighted to open a new store at Fort Kinnaird, the second Primark store in Edinburgh. This is an important opening for Primark and we look forward to bringing the brand to more customers.”

The store opening comes after the completion of Fort Kinnaird’s new leisure extension, which opened in 2015. James Varley, Asset Manager for British Land, said: “At Fort Kinnaird we continue to improve the retail and leisure offer to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our shoppers. The new Primark is an example of how we work closely with our occupiers to meet their needs and deliver great stores. The new Primark with its innovative design is proving to be a really popular addition to the scheme.”

Primark is also expanding abroad and just opened its Italian store in Milan's Il Centro shopping mall in Arese. In May, the fast fashion retailer is opening stores in York Monks Cross in the UK and Groningen and Alkmaar in The Netherlands, and June will see the launch of its third US store in Danbury Fair in Danbury, Connecticut.
