The Irish retailer Primark begins its expansion into the US by opening a new store in Boston on September 10, informed the company in a release.

To lead as president of the American branch, the clothing label chose the executive José Luis Martínez de Larramendi, who had previously been responsible for Spain and Portugal.
“Our US plans have been developing for some time and we are delighted to land in Boston in September, and then in other key locations in the Northeast of the country”, said Martínez de Larramendi, who managed Primark’s expansion in Spain and supervised 39 store openings in eight years.
Primark’s first store on American soil will be located in the historic building of Burnham, where it will sell its collections at convenient prices and will generate over 550 jobs in the area.
The retailer’s CEO, Paul Marchant said Boston is the “ideal city” to base the firm’s headquarters in the US. "We are eager to be part of the community and formally present the Primark brand to consumers in September," he stated.
The clothing label, which belongs to Associated British Foods, has also confirmed the opening of seven further stores in the US, including one in Penn at the King of Prussia Mall, which will debut by the end of November 2015.
Primark has currently more than 280 stores and more than 60,000 employees spread across England, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria and France.
