Pentland: 14% growth in revenue in 2014

The Pentland group is showing very favourable results for its 2014 fiscal year. The British group, which owns, licences and is a retailer has announced that it generated 2.2 billion pounds in revenue last year, or a 14% increase compared to 2013.

Its actively is clearly being led by its retail arm, notable thanks to its majority stock in the JD Sports group. This segment generated 1.6 billion pounds in revenue, up 19%. The group is expanding in England but also in other European markets with a wave of openings on the continent.

In terms of brands, Pentland highlights Speedo's performance by pointing out that the brand has beaten its sales record for the second year in a row, without however providing any numbers. For the entire segment, it saw an annual increase of 5% at 618 million pounds in revenue with its Speedo and Canterbury brands, which should benefit from Rugby World Cup effect in England, with Berghaus, Mitre, Boxfresh and Ellesse. Pentland also holds the shoe licences for Lacoste, Ted Baker and Kickers for the British market.

Finally, the group reports an operational result that jumped 30% to 160 million pounds, and the group's earnings before taxes increased by 92%, to 164 million pounds.
