The brand has signed a 10-year lease with M&G Real Estate and Intu to take over a unit formerly used by footwear and apparel retailer LK Bennett. The store will be located next to Harvey Nichols and is expected to open this autumn.

“We are really excited to be adding such an iconic British fashion brand to Manchester city centre’s line up. Paul Smith’s arrival in the city demonstrates the strength of Manchester as a core ‘must trade’ location for leading fashion brands,” commented Colin Flinn, regional director at Intu.

The pedestrianised retail street next to Manchester Arndale is owned and managed by M&G Real Estate and Intu in a joint venture partnership.

“Looking forward, we expect occupier demand to continue to grow for Manchester retail real estate – both in New Cathedral Street and Manchester Arndale and we want to build on this latest deal to attract more exciting premium, design-led brands to the city,” Flinn continued.

The nearby Manchester Arndale mall has more than 200 stores, including high street and aspirational fashion retailers like AllSaints, Pandora, Radley,Superdry, Topshop, Simply Be, Guess and H&M.
