Followers of the luxury fashion label's Instagram account are getting a sneak preview of Peter Copping's runway debut for Oscar de la Renta at the upcoming New York Fashion Week.

The "7 days before" Instagram video posted by oscarprgirl reveals a sketch of what's to come at the Fall 2016 Oscar de la Renta runway show next week.

In this "blink and you'll miss it" taster, Peter Copping shows off his talent for drawing as he sketches a model wearing a floral 1950s-style dress and gauntlets.

Judging by the designer's artwork, fans of the brand can expect Copping's first collection to embrace the unbridled femininity he has become renowned for.

The British designer joined Oscar de Renta shortly before the brand's founder passed away in October 2014.

Copping has rather large boots to fill. He succeeds fellow Brit John Galliano whose three-week 'temporary studio residency' stint at ODLR turned out to be a stepping stone, before landing the role of head designer at Maison Margiela.

Prior to Copping's appointment at Oscar de La Renta, the designer spent five years as head womenswear designer at Paris-based label Nina Ricci.

His track record tells us that he can offer more staying power, but will his sensualist aesthetic win over the label's followers and the fashion industry at large? All will be revealed at New York Fashion Week on Tuesday, February 17.
