NYX social media "contest" crowdsources product marketing
LA-based NYX Professional Makeup is holding a contest to celebrate its newest lipstick product launch. The brand will donate $10,000 to the charity of a winning customer's choice.
The new lipstick line is called Luv Out Loud and is designed to celebrate the brand's core values of inclusivity, acceptance and artistry for all. The colors in the Luv Out Loud product line have empowering names including Confident, Brave, Fearless, Passionate, Extraordinary, and Brilliant.
The six colors are designed to answer the question of "what qualities make a person beautiful." Colors include dusty lavender, deep violet, magenta, plum and two nudes. Each liquid lipstick retails for $7.
NYX's social media component to the new product launch is the Luv Out Loud contest. NYX invites its Instagram followers to share a one minute long video about how they love out loud. Followers are asked to discuss the charity they would like to support and why they should win.
The contest was announced at the sixth annual FACE Awards. It stars influencer Angel Merino sharing how he loves out loud. NYX is also donating to The Trevor Project on behalf of Merino.
The contest starts on August 20th and ends on August 31st. According to the official rules, judging is based on emotional content, creativity and production quality. One winner will be chosen and notified through Instagram.
