NewBarK, the California footwear brand, opens pop-up at Le Bon Marché

Until June 27, the Californian handbags and footwear brand NewBarK will be opening a pop-up store in the Parisian department store, le Bon Marché. The 270 square-foot space borrows inspiration from the sixties.

Founded in 2009 by Maryam and Marjan Malakpour, the brand NewBarK - whose name is derived from the expression "my dogs are barking" which means "to have sore feet" - offers flats, boots and accessories entirely manufactured in Los Angeles. The brand has a adopted a rather upscale positioning.

Also working as stylists for the likes of Angelina Jolie, Cher and Heidi Klum, the Malakpour sisters started out with a single pair of foldable leather shoes designed to fit in a bag, with a look halfway between a loafer and a slipper.
