New Look’s creative director Barbara Horspool has decided to leave the British fashion retailer. Her departure comes not long after Will Kernan’s, who also left his post of chief operating officer last December.

Horspool had already expressed her wish to leave New Look last year in order to join Oasis (part of the Aurora Fashions group), but was ultimately persuaded to stay by New Look’s founder Tom Singh.

According to sources close to the matter, when the former Marks & Spencer director agreed to stay in the business, she only committed to working for another 12 months. Now the designer is apparently looking to pursue other adventures.

For its fiscal year ended June 2011, the New Look Retail Group Limited reported a turnover of 1.46 billion pounds, with 76% of sales coming from the British market and 92% from its New Loook chain. The latter currently operates around one thousand stores across 15 countries.
