Milano Unica celebrates 10 years

Feb 2, 2015

The 20th edition of Milano Unica opens its doors this Wednesday with a rich programme of festivities. The "Made in Italy" leading textile trade fair is indeed celebrating its first decade of existence this year and, for the occasion, will end off the first day with a major party, held on-site around the Fieramilanocity pavilions.

On the programme, a concert with flautist Andrea Griminelli and tenor Piero Mazzocchetti, accompanied on the piano by Irene Veneziano, as well as Italian pop singer Dolcenera and a dance party with a DJ.

Milano Unica opens its doors on Wednesday 4 February

The trade fair dedicated to accessories and fabrics for the spring-summer 2016 season, taking place in Milan on 4-6 February, announces the presence of 353 exhibitors, including 64 from abroad. This number is lower than the 398 companies present last year.

Added to this are 34 Japanese companies participating in "Japan Observatory", a space dedicated to the excellence of Japanese manufacturing.

Another highlight announced for the first day is the inauguration ceremony, which will see the participation of some important names: Antoine Arnault, president of Loro Piana, Carlo Calenda, vice-minister of economic development, Giuliano Pisapia, the mayor of Milan, Roberto Maroni, president of the Lombardy region, as well as Silvio Albini, president of Milano Unica and Carlo Marenzi, president of Sistema Moda Italia (SMI), parent organisation of clothing and textiles.

Carlo Calenda is notably scheduled to give details on the creation of Milano Unica New York and its funding by the Italian government.

As usual, the event is organised into three major sectors: the space dedicated to dress shirts, "Shirt Avenue"; Ideabiella; and the "Moda In" central space dedicated to fabrics in season, with textile production for one part and accessories and clothing for the other.
