Meadowhall enhances fashion appeal with new lettings and store redesigns

Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield is having a strong year, securing a new string of premium retailers and announcing four store redesigns by House of Fraser, AllSaints, Hollister and Hugo Boss.

Flannels, Neal's Yard, Godiva, Tag Heuer and Nespresso have signed up to join the retail mix at Yorkshire's premier shopping destination following the arrival of Primark, Sports Direct, Wilko, Timberland and Schuh Kids at the mall earlier this year.

Luxury fashion retailer Flannels will open a 10,000 sq ft store on Meadowhall's prominent Park Lane mall in May, while organic natural health and beauty retailer Neal's Yardwill open a 700 sq ft store in the summer opposite Flannels.

Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer Tag Heuer is set to open its largest shop in the UK at the mall. Located next to Goldsmitsh, the shop will extend over 1,820 sq ft. Godiva and Nespresso complete the string of new deals.

“Our strategy is to ensure Meadowhall's offer reflects consumers' changing modern lifestyles. Attracting these premium brands to the line-up achieves this objective and is a great endorsement of the enhanced environment we and our occupiers are creating at the centre," said Richard Crowther, asset manager for British Land.

In addition to the new lettings, four premium brands including House of Fraser, AllSaints, Hollister and Hugo Boss will be refurbishing their stores at Meadowhall. HoF will undergo refurbishments completing in September this year and introduce new brands to the store including Kate Spade and Ralph Lauren handbags, while AllSaints and Hollister will install new double height shop fronts in their stores. Hugo Boss has refurbished its 5,200 sq to showcase its new menswear brand.

Meadowhall retailers have invested a total of £16 million to redesign their stores since the start of the mall’s refurbishment last year. The shopping centre is currently undergoing a £60 million refurbishment to improve the overall environment and create four distinct retail areas. 31 further store reformat projects are currently taking place, due to complete in line with the culmination of the refurbishment programme towards the end of the year.
