Matthew Williamson, the British fashion designer who launched his eponymous brand in 1997, has created a line of 14 Butterfly by Matthew Williamson occasionwear dresses for UK department store retailer Debenhams.

The collection features sequinned mini dresses in tones of blush, pink and lilac, as well as layered low-high midi dresses. It also includes a floor sweeping nude sequined gown with Aztec neon accents, and a botanical print split front maxi dress in bold purple and fuchsia pink.

Williamson says: "I have always enjoyed dressing women for events – dressing women who are going out to have fun and dance the night away is something I love. With this collection of dresses I wanted to inject a powerful femininity, as well as fun, into women’s wardrobes. Collaborating with Debenhams is a really exciting opportunity for me as I can now dress women up and down the country for special events and memorable occasions."

Williamson has been a part of Designers at Debenhams since 2002. The new collection retails from £110, and will be available in stores and online from May 15.

The designer recently also teamed up with fashion e-tailer Lyst on an exclusive capsule collection inspired by Morocco.
