Koovs names UK's Chilton to top design post

London listed fashion e-tailer Koovs has named Samantha Chilton as head of design. She has over 25 years of experience in the sector having worked for some of the biggest names in affordable fast fashion in the UK, including Primark, Arcadia, New Look, River Island, Topman, Warehouse and George at Asda. She has also worked across womenswear and menswear on both the retail and supply side of the UK market.

Koovs, which targets young consumers in India who are seeking western-style fashion, said her most recent role was leading the UK and Northern European womenswear design team at Primark from 2012 to 2016. Since Primark, she has also designed ranges targeted at Zara, Pull & Bear, Mango, Forever 21, River Island and Boohoo.com, while working as a design consultant within supply.

Importantly, her time spent at those mass-market brands means that she has extensive international experience in working with global manufacturers in India, Bangladesh, China and Europe.

She said her aim at Koovs is to make it the “number one western fashion destination and a household name."
Koovs CEO Mary Turner also said that Chilton “has a talent for delivering emerging seasonal 'must-haves' and first-to-market catwalk trends. She is highly experienced in working with the supplier base in India and so her strengths are aligned to our core strategy and goals."
