Kering and Gucci come together to battle gender inequality
Earlier this year Kering and Gucci launched ‘Chime for Change’, a global campaign which supports the empowerment of girls and women across the world. At a press conference in Paris on Monday, the group introduced the initiatives it was taking in order to make change happen. The luxury and lifestyle power house, currently undergoing rebranding, put focus on the synergy between its new name and the English caring reminding us of “the distinctive way in which the group looks after its brands, its staff, its customers and its stakeholders.”
The Chime for Change campaign is expected to evolve and take on different formats as time goes by said chief sustainability officer Marie-Claire Daveu at the press conference on Monday.
Supporting the campaign is the Kering Foundation, founded in 2009 with the aim of combating violence against women. “In 2012, 80,000 women across 16 countries benefited from our help and support,” said the foundation.
Partnering Gucci and the Kering Foundation in the Chime for Change campaign is American crowd-funding site Catapult, which deals exclusively with organisations that fight against gender inequality. Catapult launched 2012 with financial support from Bill and Melinda Gates and currently works with over 50 NGOs from across the world.
The Chime for Change concert will be streamed live and content will be diffused across various social networks. All proceeds from the concert with go to Catapult and the organizations it works with.
