Gucci: Stéphane Linder new CEO of Timepieces and Jewelry.

Published
Feb 24, 2015

The revolution continues at Gucci. Following last month's appointment of Alessandro Michele as the new Creative Director, the Kering group's luxury label is putting its very strategic Timepieces and Jewelry division in the hands of Stéphane Linder, who has just been named its President and CEO.

Stéphane Linder

The executive, who spent more than 20 years at TAG Heuer (LVMH) until becoming its President and CEO in 2013, is considered to be a heavyweight in the sector. He will take on his new role as of 11 March and will report to Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri. Linder succeeds Michele Sofisti, who left the Timepieces and Jewelry division, which he had been overseeing since 2009, in December.

Thus it can be said that Gucci's new CEO is not wasting any time. Having just arrived in December at the head of the Italian house, which had been quickly losing ground over the past year, Marco Bizzarri is currently reviewing its structure from the core.

"Stéphane brings a wealth of experience and wisdom to this new role that will be invaluable as we open this new chapter for the Gucci brand. Watches and Jewelry represent key strategic categories and I am confident that through the combination of Stephane's leadership and our new Creative Director Alessandro Michele's contemporary vision for the brand, we will be able to realise further significant growth in the years ahead," the CEO said in a press release.

Stéphane Linder was appointed head of Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer in May 2013, after 21 years already spent at the company in several managerial roles, including VP of Marketing and Design from 2007 to 2010 and VP of Sales in North America from 2010 to 2013, before finally being appointed CEO in 2013. He resigned this past Decmber.
