Gap takes a stab at gender equality with "Bridging the Gap" film
The film, entitled "Bridging the Gap," shows the fourteen-member cast wearing Gap's plain white tee and denim as a base look for creating their individualized style. The film cast includes models, athletes, activists and influencers. In addition to Brinkley, Chopra and Khalifa, the full cast list includes Adwoa Aboah, Maria Borges, Miles Chamley-Watson, Jonathan Groff, Fernanda Ly, Casil Mcarthur, Lineisy Montero, Ellen Rosa, Jasmine Sanders, Yara Shahidi, and Alek Wek. The soundtrack for the film plays "Sunny" by Boney M. in the background as each cast member individually dances and makes a statement about optimism and what America means to them while wearing a shirt from the assortment.
"Gap is a quintessentially American brand and we strive to embody all of America in everything we do," said Gap chief marketing officer Craig Brommers. "'Bridging the Gap' is about showing the many faces of what it means to be an American and bringing all of those sides together," he continued.
Enninful said of his creative inspiration for the film, "Growing up, I loved the imagery I saw from America as it celebrated being the land of the free and home of the brave." After the wrapping up the Gap shoot, Enninful was appointed Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue, capping off a lifelong career in fashion styling and publication.
Christie Brinkley spoke of why she participated in the project saying, "I see 'Bridging the Gap' as a statement of mutual humanity and freedom. Freedom for me means not being concerned what others think of or expect from me, but living my life with the intention of making the world a better place for others."
Chopra added, "There are so many gaps in this world that need to be bridged and filled. The most important one for me is empowering women, women need to be given an opportunity to stand on their feet and do the best they can for themselves,"
To accompany the film, Gap has curated a "Bridging the Gap" collection that includes an assortment of men's and women's white tanks, tees and long sleeve shirts. Unlike many brands who mark up women's price points for similar product, the assortment offers women the chance to shop at slightly lower price points than their male counterparts.
Men's tees and tanks range in price points from $17.95 to $39.95. Women's price points range from $14.95 to $34.95, offering women the novelty of lower price points than are typically offered for similar products for men.
