Fusalp has appointed Mathilde Lacoste, wife of Philippe Lacoste who acquired the premium skiwear brand alongside his sister Sophie, to the newly created position of creative director. Her first collection for autumn-winter 2015-2016 is currently being presented at the Florentine trade show Pitti Uomo.

With a degree in fashion and textile design from the Duperré School of Applied Arts, the designer has worked for 20 years at Lacoste SA as head of trends and product development. She has also been responsible for the brand’s color range, including for polo shirts.

"I don’t invent anything; I start with the idea that the brand leads the way. At Fusalp, form is very important, as is a very specific graphic energy that is expressed through silhouettes, cuts, colors and clothing designed for a body in motion—for speed," said Lacoste, who is inspired by the heritage of the brand founded in 1952.

Fusalp’s "après-ski" collection offers pieces that combine sophisticated ski materials with natural wool and nylon. The entire range comes in bright colors, including lemon yellow, but is also available in more urban colors like navy blue, black and khaki green.

One year ago, Sophie and Philippe Lacoste, members of the Lacoste family, acquired a 77.6% stake in Fusalp. Alexandre Fauvet, former executive director of Lacoste, holds 8%. The remaining 12.4% is held by investment fund Club Deal, run by Midi Capital.

Operating in 300 stores in France and sixty abroad, Fusalp generated sales of 6.5 million euros for its 2013-2014 fiscal year (ending on May 31). The brand should be concluding its current fiscal year with a turnover of 7.5 to 8 million euros.
