Freddy dresses the Royal Ballet in London

Published
Apr 16, 2009

Official sponsor of the Italian Gymnastics Federation, official kit supplier for Italy to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Freddy has been accumulating titles, but it’s first love remains dance – classical dance in particular. After the exclusive partnership with La Scala in Milan, the Italian group has signed a new collaborative deal with the Royal Ballet in London.

Present in the city since last May, at 30/32 Neal Street, Freddy seems to have found its bearings in England. After having been named as sponsor and official supplier to the Royal Ballet, the dance, gymnastics and fitness clothing specialist has developed its own collection – largely dominated by black – that dancers can wear during practice and rehearsals.

The line is expected in the boutique in the autumn, and will join collections for men, women and children as well as the very chich “Freddy The Club”, which was recently renamed. Distribution of the range will be through the brand’s own stores throughout the world as well as specialist shops.

At the opening of the boutique in London, Carlo Freddi – founder of Freddy – declared that “exports [represent] only 10% of our €57 million turnover. We are present in Spain, France, Russia and Japan. But, from now on, the objective is to strengthen our penetration of the market in Europe. But we have not forgotten China and the emerging markets”.

It should be noted that the collection Freddy – Royal Ballet of London will not be coming out on its own. Another line created especially for the needs of the film "Fame" is expected for Autumn/Winter 2009/2010 and will be called “Fame by Freddy”. The release of “Fame” the film is scheduled for 25 September 2009 in the UK and the USA.
