Escada names Jörg Wahlers as COO
Jörg Wahlers has been named chief operating officer of Escada, filling a position that had been left open for months. Wahlers will join the Munich-based fashion brand in May and will oversee finance and operations at the label, whilst also taking control of logistics, tech systems, the legal department and human resources. Until now, departing CEO Bruno Sälzer had been over seeing both positions.
Megha Mittal, step-daughter of steel magnate and Escada-owner Lakshmi Mittal, said that Wahlers will play an instrumental role in the future growth and transformation of the company.
Wahlers has more than 20 years of experience at companies including Kraft Foods, Campbell’s and Reckitt Benckiser. In 2011, the executive joined Villeroy & Boch as chief financial officer.
It has been rumoured that Bruno Sälzer, who is due to leave the brand at the end of the year, will be named as CEO of Benetton though that has not been confirmed by the company.
