Ermenegildo Zegna launched on Wednesday evening its new global store on London's New Bond Street after 20 months of renovation works.

American architect Peter Marino was commissioned to redesign the store which first opened its doors as a London home for the brand in 1987.

The expanded and reinterpreted space now spreads over 605 sq mts across four floors.

Luxurious furnishings, a specially-commissioned tapestry piece by South African artist William Kentridge and a vintage 1950s bar create an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication, echoing the brand’s design codes and rich Italian heritage.

To celebrate the opening of the flagship boutique, Zegna’s artistic director, Alessandro Sartori designed a unique bespoke shoe collection which is exclusive to the London store. Handcrafted by English shoemakers Gaziano & Girling, the collection includes nine exclusive styles of shoes and boots envisioned for nine different personalities.

This is the first design project presented by Satori since his appointment in February.

Renowned actors, industry insiders and artists attended the launch event which was hosted by Alessandro Sartori and Gildo Zegna.

Guests enjoyed cocktails and canapes throughout the store, whilst a series of dancers performed an expressive dance piece within the store windows.
