London-based designer Erdem Moralioglu has hand-picked a number of works for a ‘Contemporary Curated’ sale hosted by Sotheby’s in London.

Comprising 205 works, the selection follows the designer’s inspiration as an artist and art-collector, and includes pieces from important contemporary figures such as Yayoi Kusama and Antony Gormley.

“Art has always been a huge part of my life, and has often been a catalyst for my work. I first started collecting around seven years ago, and it’s become something of an addiction,” said the designer, whose label is famous for its experimental textiles, vibrant prints and exquisite craftsmanship.

“All of the pieces I’ve selected for this sale, in some shape or form, have a very human hand to them. It’s this wonderful kind of humanness that attracts me.”

Erdem has won the 2010 inaugural Vogue/BFC Designer Fashion Fund Award, the 2014 BFC’s Womenswear Designer of the Year Award and most recently, the 2015 BFC’s Establishment Designer Award.

The ‘Contemporary Curated’ sale on 15 March is expected to realise between £2.5 and £3.5 million and its pre-sale exhibition, also curated by Erdem, will be open to the public from March 11-14.
