The American retail chain has announced a partnership with the German e-commerce platform in view of selling its products all over Europe. The brand will thus open a dedicated store on the site and see its apparel sold on the most visited fashion e-commerce site in Europe.

Currently sold via 190 branches and 33 franchises in Europe, the San Francisco-started chain expects to thus expand its presence in Europe to 24 countries. It is also counting on profiting from the strong visibility offered by Zalando: offering 1,500 international brands, the e-commerce site receives more 100 million visits per month.

With 3,200 stores including 400 franchises in 90 countries, Gap Inc. (Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic…) generated 16.1 billion dollars (10.2 billion pounds) in revenue last year. The first three quarters of 2014 were marked by successive sales developments of +1%, -3% and -2%.
