DVF names Sandra Campos as new CEO

Published
Apr 19, 2018

Following a few days of rumor, the news is now official. The Diane von Furstenberg brand announced on its Twitter feed late Wednesday night that fashion executive Sandra Campos will take the reins as its new CEO.

“We are excited to welcome Sandra Campos, a woman #INCHARGE, to DVF as our new CEO!”, said the New York-based fashion brand in a tweet. DVF had been looking to fill the position for some time, following the departure of Paolo Riva in late 2016.

Campos was most recently copresident of women’s apparel at Global Brands Group where she was in charge of lines including Juicy Couture, Bebe, BCBG, Herve Leger and Tretorn. Earlier this week Global Brands announced she would be leaving the position to pursue other opportunities and tapped Olin Lancaster as group president, men’s and women’s apparel. He will oversee the same women’s labels under Campos’s management, but also the group’s men’s portfolio.

Campos's appointment is directly related to another recent (re)hire at DVF, namely Nathan Jenden who was named chief design officer and vice president, creative in January. Both Jenden and Campos had worked closely together at Global Brands. Jenden was creative director for the group's Bebe line and had a role in other labels under Campos's management.

The two can now continue their collaboration at their new company. Brand founder Diane von Furstenberg told the US media that she was able to lure Jenden back to her brand by promising to bring on board Campos too.

“When I met Sandra I was immediately impressed by her knowledge and passion for the business, her expertise in digital and her understanding of what DVF stands for," von Furstenberg said. "I am very excited that she has accepted to lead the company in this disruptive and exciting moment in the industry.”

Before working for Global Brands Group, Campos cofounded and led her own company, Cynosure Brands Holdings LLC, a global brand management and licensing company to create celebrity lifestyle brands. Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez is one of the company's successes. Her resume also includes positions as president of O Oscar, an Oscar de la Renta division of Kellwood Co. and senior vice president of Lauren Ralph Lauren.

Campos will report directly to von Furstenberg and the DVF board.
