Diane von Furstenberg reappoints Nathan Jenden as creative director

Published
Jan 4, 2018

Diane von Furstenberg hasn't lost any time in appointing a new creative director. The brand announced the departure of Jonathan Saunders after only 18 months in the role in mid-December, and has already found his replacement. Nathan Jenden returns to the company to succeed him as "Chief Design Officer & VP, Creative".

The British designer will oversee all of the brand's design, starting with the Fall/Winter 2018-19 collection which will be presented next February, Diane von Furstenberg (DVF) stated in a release.

With his return to the brand, Jenden is going back to his roots, as he previously headed Diane von Furstenberg's creative direction from 2001 to 2010. After nine years, he left the label in order to concentrate on his own brand, launched in 2006. The French designer Yvan Mispelaere took over from him at DVF at the time.

Born in London, where he studied at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art, Nathan Jenden cut his teeth in Paris at John Galliano. He subsequently moved to New York in 1998, where he worked as design director for Daryl K before joining DVF and creating his own women's ready-to-wear brand.

The designer returns to DVF at a time when the label is undertaking a radical restructuring process, and when its founder Diane von Furstenberg, who recently changed the brand's management, has also announced that she is looking for a partner
