Derek Lam debuts in China on JD.com
New York City-based fashion label Derek Lam is debuting in China, opening a flagship store on Toplife by JD.com. Derek Lam joins a number of brands currently on Toplife, including Emporio Armani, Rimowa and Tod’s.
Launched by JD.com in October, Toplife is a curated, full-price platform that allows luxury brands to have complete control over the customer experience and utilize JD’s marketing technology, including social media advertising through Tencent, which operates China’s most popular social network WeChat.
The new Derek Lam Toplife store will carry the label’s latest women’s ready-to-wear and footwear collections.
“We are delighted to add Derek Lam to the offering on Toplife. Chinese consumers are increasingly discerning when it comes to quality, and want more variety to define their personal styles,” said Winston Cheng, President of International at JD.com.
“That’s why it was important to create a new type of online luxury model. Brands shouldn’t have to make sacrifices in customer experience to embrace e-commerce.”
JD.com is one of China’s largest retailers, servicing over 266 million customers.
