Cherokee appoints retail exec Mark Conway to lead e-commerce growth and licensing

Published
Oct 25, 2017

Brand marketing group Cherokee Global Brands has announced Mark Conway has been appointed to a newly created role as Chief Brand and Revenue Officer.

Conway will lead business development, e-commerce, marketing and brand planning. He will also manage all licensing for Cherokee Global Brands (Cherokee).

Conway will report directly to Cherokee's CEO Henry Stupp who said Cherokee is looking to Conway to deepen penetration of the company's brands. Stupp called this a critical time in Cherokee's "growth trajectory as we harness ongoing transformations in the retail landscape."

In addition to creating a new role for Conway, Cherokee has been busy with an acquisition of Hi-Tec into its brand portfolio. Conway will be responsible for fully integrating the brand into Cherokee's channels and with "synergiz[ing] business units."

Conway comes most recently from Canadian Tire where he led that company's newly created international division and growth. Early in his career he worked as a buyer at Primark and in product development at Sears. He was a VP of apparel and merchandising at Walmart Canada where he refocused the business on kids and basics.

Conway has significant licensing experience in apparel. He has helped secure intellectual property rights in global markets including Canada, UK, the Middle East, Asia and Mexico.

Cherokee's brands include Liz Lange, Tony Hawk Signature Apparel and Hawk Brands, Carole Little, the Cherokee brand, Everyday California and Sideout. It holds license and franchise agreements in 110 countries and 12,000 retail locations including e-commerce.
