CFDA launches live stories on Tumblr and Snapchat
New York Fashion Week: Men’s officially began on Tuesday at Skylight Clarkson North. The biannual event that launched in July 2015 is expanding its presence with the help of Tumblr and Snapchat. Though show attendees can tweet and post photos with special hashtags to promote each designer, collection and the event itself, Snapchat and Tumblr are taking things further by capturing live stories.
Both Snapchat and Tumblr are sharing live stories from menswear shows and brands including Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Cadet and Gypsy Sport. In addition, Snapchat has introduced custom filters for NYFW: Men’s that users can apply to their snap stories. The app offers location-based filters as well as special holiday and event filters, most recently including Groundhog Day and the Super Bowl.
The CFDA aims to get the public more involved in fashion week beyond the usual social media photos.
Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Cadet and Gypsy Sport will all present their respective Fall 2016 collections on Wednesday, February 3.
