Canterbury in sponsorship deal with Rugby World Cup 2019

Published

Pentland-owned sportswear brand Canterbury has been announced as the official sports apparel supplier of Rugby World Cup 2019 and World Rugby.

Canterbury

The announcement builds on Canterbury’s partnership with World Rugby as the official apparel partner to elite 15s and sevens match officials.

As part of the two-year agreement, Canterbury will develop unique co-branded technical sports apparel collections for the upcoming Rugby World Cup, to be held in Japan from 20 September to 2 November 2019.

The first officially licensed merchandise will launch in Japan from September.

Simon Rowe, head of sports marketing at Canterbury, said: “Canterbury’s vision to be the number one brand in rugby means we are extremely proud to extend the successful partnership with World Rugby and Rugby World Cup 2019.

“The road to Japan 2019 is an exciting time for Canterbury as we enhance our association with Rugby’s greatest tournament to deliver both on and off the field; with players, officials, staff, volunteers and rugby supporters all wearing the brand.”

The team sport is at the centre of Canterbury’s heritage. Since its launch in 1904, the clothing company has dedicated itself to producing hard wearing rugby apparel and training gear. It currently sponsors England, Ireland, Leinster, Cardiff Blues, NSW Waratahs and NZ Warriors, among others.
