British Fashion Council announces three new director roles

The British Fashion Council has reshuffled its management structure in a move that will see three heads of department take on new director roles.

According to a statement, the BFC’s Head of Marketing Clara Mercer will move to Communications Director, while Head of Sponsorship Jenico Preston will become Commercial Director. Laura Strain, Head of Finance will be the organisation’s new Finance Director.

The new directors will support Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC, in the development and resourcing of new projects, creating workflows to implement strategy set by the Board as well as review and manage internal skills and resources.

Caroline Rush CBE, CEO commented “I am delighted we are able to provide this opportunity for Jenico, Clara and Laura to further demonstrate and develop their leadership skills. Earlier this year we bolstered our Board of Directors to improve governance and to assist in developing and setting strategy for the organisation. In order to deliver on the Board’s ambition it is essential that we have a strong internal leadership team to ensure financially and operationally we remain agile and that in a changing industry we are in a position to not just adapt but to lead.”

The announcement comes days before the opening of London Fashion Week, an initiative powered by the British Fashion Council to promote the British designer fashion industry to a global audience.

In July, the British Fashion Council also appointed three new non-executive directors to strengthen its Executive Board.  Dylan Jones OBE, British GQ Editor and London Fashion Week Men’s Chairman; José Neves, Founder and CEO of Farfetch and David Pemsel, CEO of the Guardian Media Group. Dylan, José and David joined existing board members Dame Natalie Massenet, Chairman; Caroline Rush CBE, Chief Executive and Anya Hindmarch MBE, Non-Executive Director.
